I Didn't Know

I didn't know. Looking back over 4 years of caregiving, I can see that I didn't know how much help I would need. As a long time caregiver said to me, "You don't even know what you need to know."

I didn't know about the WHRA Geriatric Intake Line. I didn't know about Rupert's Land Caregivers. I didn't know about Age and Opportunity. I didn't know how hospital social workers could help me.

I didn't know what tax credits were available. I didn't understand the paneling process. I didn't know that family doctors aren't always familiar with available resources.

Now I know. I wish I'd sought more help from the beginning. Even a little advance knowledge is a luxury.
