Concerned About Medications?

In 2008, my mother was hospitalzed for nine days. The diagnosis? "Confusion and falling due to polypharmacy (multiple-medications)". She had 10 prescriptions from 4 different doctors.  She was taking 14 pills a day - 6 at breakfast, 2 at lunch, 4 at dinner nd 2 at bedtime. She aso was in the early stages of dementia.
This crisis may have been prevented if we had had a specialist look at all these meds. Someone who had actually met my mom, who knew all about the interactions between her medications and how these medications affected seniors. Someone who could recommend the most current and suitable drugs for her various medical conditions. Someone like Mathilda Prinsloo, a senior-care pharmacist.
According to Mathilda, "Aging changes certain areas in our bodies and that changes how the body handles medication,... Sometimes too much, too little or not the right type of drugs are prescribed... many seniors take medications that are not suitable and don't take their medication as prescribed, if at all.
