March/April

April is Caregivers' Month

April 1 is Caregiver Recognition Day in Manitoba.
Please join us as we unite to celebrate our third annual Caregiver Recognition Day and raise awareness about the irreplaceable contributions of unpaid caregivers. This year we are reaching out to rural communities and holding the provincial event in Brandon, Manitoba. This is an excellent opportunity for caregivers in Brandon and the surrounding area to learn about local and provincial services that can support them and those they care for.

Caregiving: A Family Affair
A Brandon workshop for seniors and/or their adult children. Presenter: Wendy Sutton
Caregiving is a partnership between adult children and their aging parents. This partnership works best when both are informed and involved. "I can't tell you what might happen next, but I can tell you where to find help when you need it."
Comments from past participants:
  • This is an excellent course. The instructor has a wealth of knowledge and experience with the subject, and delivers with a sense of humour. Each class has been informative and fun as well.
  • This is a program for caregivers, but also for anyone who has an aging parent. I feel empowered.
  • The work Wendy is doing is critical to both elders and their caregivers. I feel like I have a huge toolbox to help me carry on.
